Recently I responded to a blog post by another Orbler, which rather escalated.
I fully admit that I did come in sarcastically; as an American contributor to an Australian-hosted blog site, I do get upset when another American contributor writes things that make us all look bad. We don't need any more help in that area right now! So yes--I may have come off too strongly in my response; that is what I request your opinion about.
Was I too rude? If you could kindly click here and read the post/comments in question and give me your honest opinion, I'd be most appreciative!
Also, did my comments warrant this response, posted on (of all things) one of my posts about roasting coffee?

WWW claims to be an author. She is, but pays for the publishing. Her use of language, silly abbreviations, her "ALgore", "Bill the Zipper", "Billary" wear thin after the 100th use. They are symptomatic of limited vocabulary skills. In short, she's a Dolt -- so why engage with her and her sycophants? None of them will learn anything or even listen.
She is simply not worth the effort. She has reminded me that her blog is far more popular than mine. She's right and there's a moral somewhere in that situation. I'm just too old to look for it!
So, Ms A, have a great and warm holiday season and a healthy and rational upcoming year.

It seems that SL is so insecure about her own beliefs that she takes offense to any comment that may inspire free thought.
Addressing an alternate point of view is very confusing to someone living in a black and white world. It's better to keep things simple....good guys vs bad guys. The good guys are in white, the bad guys dress in black.
I recently made an observation about how SOME (Not all) Christians ignore the bible's golden rules on "Thou shalt not kill" and "Turn the other cheek". It provoked a similar personal attack that ironically never addressed any of the simple issues I had raised. (Link here)
You have to remember that this is a person who lives in a constant state of fear and paranoia. Terrorists are coming, illegal immigrants are invading and thank god the war for oil rages on to fight the threat. (or at least that the impression I get from her posts, which are usually amusing.)
I wouldn't normally get into this kind of discussion about another members comments but you seemed genuinely vexed.

I left some anonymous comments on the post that started this all and some others...and I'm testing a theory here.
I had purposely not logged in nor signed off with my name on that blog...not to hide behind Anonymous but because I truly am a believer in transference of energy... and we're talking bad ju-ju on that blog, people!...but also, despite this;
And I'm in a silly "play games" mood with obviously a bit too much time on my hands!! It's such a pain to leave anonymous comments!!
You didn't go far at all. It doesn't matter what the tone of ones comment is when left on that blog. You could have written the sweetest worded comment but still not agreeing with her viewpoint and you still would have been attacked.
It's not your problem she doesn't see the hypocrisy of her insular attitude. Besides...she used the tragedy of her post's subject to create a frenzy.
She knew that would happen and she courts it. If all she wanted to do is share the news from a journalistic point of view, she wouldn't be such a sensationalist...then again, she could be a journalist for a tabloid.
I just really want to know one thing;
Then who does she ordinarily swim with?
And D...if you do feel the need to slum it...could you please at least stay within your IQ percantile?
I'm sure the sewer does have some areas cordoned off for highly intelligent, great personality types ...

Any self respecting person will not judge a country by the opinions of a few, I heartily put bradish in the same basket as all the other crazy religous/nationalist nuts I loath. Her views are as extreme as that of the most extreme religous nuts you've ever seen and her delusions which cleanse her of any moral dillemas are equally powerful.
She's less dangerous than other religous/nationalist nuts because she expels all her energy through a blog and probably has no ability to actually take action.

Actually she has more posts than your blog, which gives the illusion her blog is more popular based on googles spider crawlers. basically the more posts you have the more hits you'll get from computers indexing your blog for search engines.
On the whole though it doesn't really matter, she's just a senile old lady desperately trying to sound relevant in a world that recquires an open mind and heart. She has neither and doesn't think you need an open mind and thinks an open heart is a given to any Christian. Basically she thinks she's perfect and nothing but.

ah yes, she's lied frequently over the past. Sometimes it's funny, once she was going on and on about her computer troubles and how the local computer store couldn't fix anything for shit. So I bait her and say how liberals are the best computer technicians in the world to which she replies 'oh my computer repairman is a staunch conservative', oh haha, I just responded with a quote from her about how the computer store never did a good job of fixing the computer to begin with.
Do I really believe liberals are inherintly better with computers? Not really, was this hilarious? Yep. In all fairness I was getting on her nerves the whole way through before dropping that whopper.
Of course upon explaining the problems may be caused by opening shady emails (porn, car insurance etc) she quickly shot back with 'I have twenty year old friends, some of them liberal, who use my computer'.
Hahahaha, an old hag with 20 year old friends? Wait, a staunch 'conservative' old hag with 20 year old pot smoking liberal friends?

I'm not upset by Bradish and Co.'s responses at all.
Reading it all over again, I have to admit that I needled her. I do that every so often, because she is a hatemonger and I like getting hatemongers upset once in awhile. They tend to show their true colors that way, and since she is a "mentor" here at Orble I am hoping that some of her "students" realize what kind of person they are learning from. You'll note that I didn't call her any names or even have to try very hard to get her britches all twisted up; I knew that and acted upon it deliberately. That was perhaps a bit mean of me.
I have to correct a few of the comments on her post, though: statements that I was a lesbian in need of a sex change, never served in the military, hate women, am a terrorist, am too chicken to come back and read her replies, or swim in sewers--- have been greatly exaggerated.
Oh, and thank you, reverend, for that lovely and inspiring bit of sentiment you posted. May you live in interesting times.

even a quote with a page and author reference in written media ie: newspapers, magazines, books . . . or a quote with the time, reporters name, program and channel . . . it doesnt need to be university level footnotes and it doesnt even have to be included in the original post but if questioned (and if true) a reference shouldnt be that hard to come up with
referring to "the news" in general as a source is very strange and i feel ashamed for laughing so much i cried . . . i know it is wrong to laugh at those who havent had the same opportunities ive had but the absurdity of the statement really had me gasping for breath
despite all her good intentions i can only conclude S.L.Bradish is not very well educated (in a formal academic sense) . . . she interprets "the news" in a similar way to my own father who only completed grade 9 and a trade apprenticeship . . . he often makes a claim like Time magazine says Barack Obama hates white people, when i ask to see the article and read it for myself it says nothing of the sort, it says one of Obamas friends used the term "white america", hardly the same thing . . . i can only assume Bradish has had the same or less education which isnt that surprising for working-class women who grew up in a time that didnt value equality to the extent we do now
i admire her trying to provide a resource for christians or conservatives to learn about "the news" but a crash course in computing, media ethics, comprehension, and academic referencing would probably do her a world of good . . . she obviously spends alot of time and puts alot of work into her body of writing but it is the refusal to acknowledge the difference between "opinion" and "fact" that cause such hostile (juvenile) responses on her posts
i have had a few debates on Orble but so far none have deteriorated into insults towards myself personally (although ive noticed poor Ruby usually gets an unnecessary serve!), i usually find they choose to simply ignore the references or facts i provide and not respond directly to what i say at all . . . but i HOPE they secretly read them out of sheer curiousity, just for a different perspective on "the news"

The person contradicted herself in her own post and when it was brought to her attention went on the attack instead of saying "whoops I quoted that incorrectly". You were a tad sarcastic but in no way deserved the spiteful comments. You asked for sources and the writer couldn't provide them. What you asked was valid.
I didn't comment on the other person's blog because when you comment it votes and I didn't want to put a vote on that blog.
Her initial point about the tragedy of the killing was valid . All honour killings are tragic as are most murders but to state that all Muslims follow this code is laughable. I have many friends of all faiths, Muslims included who are horrified by these killings. And to turn around and state that the perpetrator should be executed and stating they are Christian is in itself a double standard. I am agnostic so I won't be drawn on religious arguments but I really did think that one of the basic tenets of Christianity is Thou Shalt Not Kill. Hmmm, her response didn't sound very Christian in that context.
Anyway, thanks for the entertaining read. I love the debates on blogs but responses that are spiteful and hateful are ridiculous. Unfortunately, they will always continue, such is freedom of speech. For what it's worth, I thought your comments were valid.
